Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is China's first national forest park and the world's only quartz sandstone peak forest landscape – geologically known as the "Zhangjiajie Landform." What's more, the park ticket itself is valid for 4 days, but our 2-day itinerary covers all the must-see sights – it's just the right amount of time to experience the highlights without feeling rushed or missing out.

📍 Day 1: East Gate → Bailong Elevator → Yuanjiajie → Kongzhong Tianyuan (Sky Garden) → Tianzi Mountain (Peak Summit Route)

• Enter through the East Gate and take the Bailong Elevator up the cliff – this glass elevator built into the rock face is an experience in itself.

• Arrive at Yuanjiajie, the inspiration for the floating mountains in the movie Avatar. Highlights like Mihun Terrace and the First Bridge Under Heaven will leave you in awe.

• Next, visit Kongzhong Tianyuan (Sky Garden) – a truly special man‑made attraction. In the past, local residents, faced with the region's "70% mountains, 20% water, and only 10% arable land," had very little farmland. So they spent over a decade carving terraced fields into the mountaintop by hand, step by step. Now managed by the park, this site is not fully open to all visitors, making it a hidden gem. From here you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of both the Bailong Elevator and the Yuanjiajie peaks – a perfect photo spot.

• Finally, head to Tianzi Mountain, where you'll look down over a vast "ocean of peaks" – an incredibly expansive view.

Instead of cramming Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, Golden Whip Stream, and Yellow Stone Village into one exhausting marathon, you split them across two days. The result? Day 1: Arrival & 72 Qilou Night Tour

Your guide and driver meet you at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG) or the high-speed rail station with a sign bearing your name. The drive to your hotel takes about 30–40 minutes. After checking in and freshening up, your guide will give you a brief overview of the days ahead and answer any questions.

Day 1: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park — Yuanjiajie & Tianzi Mountain

8:30 AM – 5:00 PM:
Enter the park via the eastern (Wulingyuan) gate. Take the Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie — the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain, the Bridge Under the Bridge (天下第一桥), and the Ecstasy Platform (迷魂台). Your guide explains the geological miracle: 380 million years ago, this was an ocean. Tectonic uplift + freez-thaw weathering = today's 3,000 quartz-sandstone pillars.

Descend via shuttle to Tianzi Mountain. The Imperial Brush Peaks (御笔峰) formation is the emblem of Zhangjiajie — three slender pillars that look like calligraphy brushes laid to rest. Walk the Cloud-Dispelling Platform (云青岩) for a view that changes with every shift of light.

A 40-minute drive from Zhangjiajie city to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. The Glass Bridge (云天渡) is the tour's climax: 430 meters long, 6 meters wide, 300 meters above the canyon floor. When it opened in 2016, it set GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS for the world's longest and highest glass-bottom bridge.

Walking across: The first few steps are the hardest. Then you realize the glass is 6cm thick (3 layers of tempered glass) and can hold 800 people at once. You're safe. The views down are breathtaking — the emerald canyon floor 300 meters below, the river a thin ribbon.

After crossing, descend into the canyon on a well-paved trail. Waterfalls cascade down the canyon walls. At the bottom: a boat ride across the emerald lake, then a short walk to the exit.
