According to an announcement issued on January 28 by the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet, and Shigatse Everest Cultural Tourism Investment Development Co., Ltd.: Affected by snowy weather, snow accumulation and ice formation have appeared on the roads within Everest Scenic Area, and currently there are no safe conditions for vehicle passage. To effectively protect the safety of visitors' lives and property, Everest Scenic Area has been temporarily closed to the public since 15:30 on January 28, 2026, and closed management has been implemented.
